Alice Ricker came home to her apartment last week. Her sister, Susan, is staying with her. Her address is 1045 Oak St., Apt. 512, Jacksonville, FL 32204.  Her phone number is (904) 228-6584.  Alice wants to thank everyone for the cards, calls and visits.

Afesa Adams is now home and reunited with her dog, Paris. She has two nurses and daily visits from her family. She wants to let everyone know that that she is enjoying getting cards!

Buck Plaster is continuing his treatment for a mild stroke at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital (University and Beach). Buck is in room 3217 in the Ortega section. Visitor are welcome weekdays after 4:30 pm and anytime on weekends. Healing thoughts go out to Buck for his rehabilitation.

Meg Rohal’s daughter, Christine and Nathaniel Mouzon were married on 11/12/17 at The Ribault Club. Meg wishes to thank all the church members who made the day so special. Congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Mouzon!

Buck Plaster suffered a mild stroke on November 11, 2017 and was admitted to Mayo hospital.  He expects to be transferred this week to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital on University Boulevard.  Buck and Sallie are very grateful for all the good wishes expressed in the many cards and calls they have received.

Terri Brown Neal has been hospitalized several times recently at Memorial Hospital.  She had more tests this week and was hoping to be discharged on November 14, 2017.    She said that she wants to thank everyone for their loving concern.

As many of you know, our DRE, Tyler Burley, has been under treatment for a blood infection since October 21, 2017.  He was discharged from Baptist South Hospital on October 30, 2017 and he is continuing his treatment at home.  He expects to be back at church after November 23, 2017.  He is very grateful for all of the expressions of good wishes from his UUCJ family.  Our healing thoughts and support go out to Tyler and Elizabeth.

Kim Larsen had an emergency appendectomy on October 11, 2017.  He is recovering very well.  Our healing thoughts go out to Kim and Darlene.


Mary Anne Bratburd was a longtime member of UUCJ until she moved to Virginia in 2008 to be near family.  She passed away on September 29, 2017 in Fairfax, Virginia at the age of 90.  A burial service was held on October 23, 2017 at Arlington Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.

Our sincere sympathy goes out to Mary Anne’s family.


Jacksonville native and longtime member  of UUCJ, Rev. Douglas D. Knight, passed away on October 19, 2017 in New York City at the age of 82.  He worked with the late Bob Towers to organize the Buckman Bridge Unitarian Universalist Church.  A private family burial will be at a later date.

Peter Racine’s father, Albert Racine, passed away on August 6, 2017 after a short illness at the age of 90.  He was in hospice care in Denville, New Jersey.   Our thoughts and prayers go out to Peter and Kelly and their family.

Kristin Lapinski’s  grandfather, “Dutch” Weber, a Lutheran Minister for 75 years, passed away on August 5, 2017 at the age of 95.  He had been living in a Lutheran Retirement Village in Pennsylvania.  Our condolences  go out to Kristin and her family.
